What is Data

Data is information in raw or unorganized form (such as alphabets, numbers, or symbols). It refers to, or represents, conditions, ideas, or objects. Data is limitless and present everywhere in the universe

An Example:

In the office we took a pizza lovers survey.
We learned that ten people liked pepperoni pizza best.
Nine liked sausage pizza best.
Seven liked cheese pizza best.
This information is called DATA
If you plan to give a pizza party for your team in the office then you would need the pizza lover's survey data.

2. Google processes 20 PB a day (2008)
3. Wayback Machine has 3 PB + 100 TB/month (3/2009)
4. Facebook has 2.5 PB of user data + 15 TB/day (4/2009)
5. eBay has 6.5 PB of user data + 50 TB/day (5/2009)
6. CERN's Large Hydron Collider (LHC) generates 15 PB a year
